It has outgrown its traditional cocoon growing into such global appeal, congesting global dance floors with energetic dancing shoes. Thus let us take a stroll to YouTube and see the top 25 African music videos uploaded in May that were viewed most.

25. Rwanda – Buravan ft Ay: Just a Dance

Just a dance deservedly makes the list for the month. The smooth calming flow from the scintillating Rwandan artist, Buravan is stirred tastefully by the ecstatic rap vigor coming from Ay. The night scenery of the video perfectly paints the sensual feel that fills the vocals.

This video is littered with their lovebird pictures. Banky W asks if their love could stretch past earth to heaven. Possible though…but Banky W should well know if their love makes it to heaven, it remains to be known if they would have their private bedroom there!

Here the Ghanaian frenzy, Eazi comes in closely here again. We can’t help admire the ability of Mr Eazi to chuck in messages into melodies especially in a modern age of music when the sound ends up in the ears without sending a message. This is a nice one from Tanzanian beaming artiste Beka Flavor. Soft sound and an admirable resplendence to the video. The modern aura of the video along with the cultural vocals paint a beautiful contrast for your eyes and your ears to enjoy.

16. Ghana – Shatta Wale ft Shatta Michay: Low Tempo

Low Tempo from Ghanaian duo Shatta Wale and Shatta Michay comes in with its big vibes admirably. Shatta Wale does nice work with the masculine toughness his vocals are laced with. Michay massages things up with her womanly aura well displayed in the video. Just the two of them in the video, but this agrees well with the low tempo theme which is more of a personalized private relationship.

Exhilarating show from Tanzanian steaming star Needy. The video is a big one nailed to the top chart with the absorbing dance moves from Nedy and his cohorts. When you bring in the melody to the powerful video, it is overflowing entertainment. You need the best of self-discipline to watch this video just once.

One thing is you can always bank on Nigerian superstar Banky W to deliver his goods. In this video, an Arabian Banky W takes his damsel through the desert giving her an oasis of love to drink from. Kololo nails it, though we weren’t really expecting less from a Banky W who has been around for long in the music industry.

13. Kenya – Nyashinski: Aminia

Here comes the Kenyan star with a fresh turn this time. The rap is enveloping and its traditional stripes to the rap makes it more peculiar. Big work from rhymes Nyashinski. The rap enters well with the rasping visuals.

12. Tanzania – Lavalava: Tuachane

Lavalava another big shot from Tanzania entices us with his soothing appeal sure to get you in the Cupid mode. The emotions are dripping from this one frantically as eLavalava in this video tells us the potholes true love has to ride through. Palliating sounds served on a powerful video. Good work!

11. Nigeria – Koredo Bello: Butterfly

Here comes the Nigerian young darling Koredo Belllo with his dazzling smile tantalizing enough to get one’s grandma drooling. Lovely video oozing youthful frenzy and party exuberance.Togolese Toofan and Nigerian Patoranking were impressive in making this musical bomb. Sure song to sentence you to the dance floor. Powerful vocals judiciously flanked with some enigmatic dance steps from the video. Sweaty performance all over the video preserves the heated spirit, gets you buckling your dance shoes excitedly for a hardworking dance escapade ahead.

2. Nigeria – Krizbeats ft Davido, Tekno: Erima

Soft and easygoing flows from Nigerian acts Davido and Tekno. The melody well preserved in the romantic tempo of the sound judiciously flanked with some frolicking dance moves. The hooks and the jerks in the song are tastefully cooked and when spiced with the amusing video, it is a nourishing meal for the eyes and ears.

A good volume of energy in this Afromashup video. Strong sounds from Yung L and his fellow Nigerian accomplices Skales and Chopstix, completely murdering the video excitedly. And when you are about giving them all thumbs up for an excellent work, Nicki Minaj comes with her absorbing vibes making the song an overdose of enjoyment. The visuals dutifully corresponds the vigor of the vocals.
